The weird loser with a website nobody reads: Exposed!

I'm not as sad and pathetic as I sometimes make myself out to be. I am sad and pathetic, but not that sad and pathetic. My attitude is just a rip-off of The Filthy Critic's persona, except not as funny and possibly a little more of a cause for concern. But the world could use more people like Filthy, which is how I justify my lack of originality. I also justify it by saying that this is my personality and I can't help it if I identify with Filthy. It's just.... who I am...

Lonely and pathetic? Maybe. Ugly and shirtless? Yeah, at least in this picture. I'm not always winking like that.

In all seriousness, I love movies. My opinions of movies might be the only interesting aspect of my personality, but most people shut down when I tell them that I'm not a fan of Kevin Smith, so that doesn't exactly help me make friends. Not that I don't have any friends. I have, like, 100 friends. Everybody thinks I'm so cool.

My love of movies stated when I was a sophomore in high school. For some peculiar reason, I decided to rent A Clockwork Orange. Fuck if I can remember why, but that's not important. What's important is that, through what I can only assume is what they call "fate", I got my hands on a copy of it, watched it at two in the morning, and was blown the fuck away. I say "the fuck" not because I curse too much (although I do curse too much), but because saying that I was just "blown away" is an understatement. It literally left me speechless until, a few minutes later, I muttered to myself, "I want to be a director." A Clockwork Orange made me the obnoxious loser I am today.

Only one other movie has ever left me speechless, and that was Mulholland Drive. It's still the best movie I have ever seen, even if it wasn't as life-changing as A Clockwork Orange. Nothing I have ever seen has rivaled the emotional impact of Mulholland Drive; plus, it has lesbians. That certainly helps. (Note: If you haven't seen Mulholland Drive, don't see it just because it has lesbians. You'll be pissed off for the first hour and a half, and the rest of the movie will be lost on you. Go in expecting a good story; come out with an amazing story that just so happens to have lesbians in it).

Also, just to get this out of the way: Crash is the bane of my existence. If you ever happen to meet me in real life, don't bring it up. I won't talk to you.

Anyway, since there's nothing else about me that's interesting, here's a list of my current top ten favorite movies (not necessarily in any particular order):

1. A Clockwork Orange (1972)
2. Mulholland Dr. (2001)
3. Barton Fink (1991)
4. Repulsion (1965)
5. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
6. Blue Velvet (1986)
7. Vertigo (1958)
8. Rosemary's Baby (1968)
9. The Shining (1980)
10. Eraserhead (1977)

I made this site for two reasons: because my roommates are assholes who don't value my opinion, and because I'm an asshole who thinks his opinions should be valued. Less importantly, though, I made it to practice and improve my writing, which probably isn't very good, and to gain a better understanding of movies in general. Maybe that sounds kind of corny, but I want to be a director some day, and I think that examining what makes a movie good or bad could help me improve my own work. Not that I have much work to my name right now, but if I did, it probably wouldn't be very good. Actually I do have one thing, but yeah, it kind of sucks. Oh well.
